Handling fees

Applying handling fees

Handling fees will be applied to a return request for the following reasons:

  • Special Order - Goods ordered in especially for a customer, generally not a stock item.
Special order items will have the "SO" clause associated to it.
Minimum charge is the standard or RTS handling fee.

  • Large Quantities - Returning a large; quantity of goods / quantity of a single good.
SMG use a stock holding system with a predetermined stock levels, accepting large quantities of returns would mean SMG would then overstock.
Minimum charge is the Non-standard or RTS handling fee.

  • Past 7 day return - Goods being returned past the 7-day cut-off may be subject to a discretionary handling fee depending on model status and shelf life.

Handling fee charges

Customers will be advised of any handling fee charges once their return is confirmed.
SMG reserve the right to either refuse the goods/increase the handling fees if the goods are found to be non-conforming against agreed return conditions once inspected.

  • Standard handling fee set at 10%, normally associated to Special Order return requests.

  • Non-standard handling fee set fee agreed by management, normally associated to Large Quantities, and Past 7 day return.

  • RTS handling fee Goods require being returned to supplier, SMG will pass on any supplier handling fees to the customer (e.g. if a supplier charge SMG a 25% handling fee, SMG will pass this cost on to the customer.) There will be a delay in issuing a credit in this case!
